How Insurance Works

How premiums, coverage and VTC policy override fit together.

Insurance protects you against repair costs when your truck or trailer takes damage on a job. Pick a package once and it stays active until you change it.

Cost of insurance

A percentage of your job income is deducted to pay for the package you selected. The percentage varies between packages: higher tiers cost more income but cover more damage.

Damage coverage

When damage occurs, the policy covers a percentage of the repair cost for both truck and trailer. The exact split is shown on each package card before you buy.

Active job restriction

You cannot change your insurance while you have ongoing jobs. Finish (or cancel) every active job before switching packages.

Joining a company

When you join a Virtual Trucking Company (VTC), your personal insurance stays active unless the VTC enforces its own policy. An enforced VTC policy always overrides your personal one.

Personal insurance

If you are not in a VTC, or your VTC does not enforce its own policy, your personal insurance remains in effect for every job you log.

Ongoing coverage

Active insurance stays in effect until you cancel it, switch package, or it gets overridden by a VTC policy. Damage claims are calculated automatically based on the active coverage at the time of the job.

Tips

  • Higher-tier packages cost more but cover more damage.
  • Finish all ongoing jobs before switching packages.
  • A VTC-enforced policy always overrides your personal one.
  • For damage you believe was not your fault, see Disputing Job Damage.
